That’s why we recently took a hard look at one critical piece of warehouse technology: RF (radio frequency) guns. After facing continued supply chain delays and escalating costs with our previous supplier, we knew it was time for a change.
We identified a more advanced RF gun option that offered several key upgrades—longer battery life to keep teams productive throughout their shifts, extended scanning range for greater flexibility in larger warehouse environments, and larger screens that improve usability and reduce error rates. These features weren’t just nice to have—they were essential to helping our workforce stay efficient and responsive in a challenging logistics landscape.
To ensure these new devices would meet our high standards, we conducted a pilot test at our Arkansas facility. The results were clear: not only did the upgraded RF guns perform better across all key metrics, but they also delivered significant cost savings per unit. Encouraged by these outcomes, we rolled out the new equipment more broadly, and we’re already seeing measurable returns on investment. By year’s end, we project even greater savings—and over time, this upgrade will yield substantial benefits across our entire national network.
But the value of this initiative extends beyond dollars and cents. The upgraded RF guns are helping to streamline warehouse operations, reduce scanning errors, and enable faster, more accurate inventory management. Just as importantly, these tools give our IT and operations teams greater flexibility to adapt and troubleshoot in real-time, ensuring our clients enjoy uninterrupted, high-quality service.
